In the morning of August 16th 2019, an opening ceremony of the training courses for ICT staff was held at the Laos – India Centre of Excellence in Software Development and Training (CESDT), Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT), Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication. CESDT is a project in cooperation between IICT and C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, India. The ceremony marks another important beginning of the cooperation of both sides. Moreover, development of ICT staff is a policy of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication, after the official inauguration of the Centre at the end of last year. The Centre aims to build and develop human resources to be able to conduct high quality software development aligning with the need of the current society contributing to the national socio-economic development.

The ceremony was hosted by Mr. Sayfon Boutchanthalath, Director General of IICT, participants from departments in the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication, telecommunication companies and other private companies from related sectors.

“We highly evaluate the cooperation with C-DAC, India. The trainings play a crucial role in enhancing and developing our Lao IT human resources to meet with the need of the society” stated by Mr. Sayfon Boutchanthalath.

Initially 2 courses, certificate course on Data Communication and Networking and Advanced Diploma in Information Technology, will be conducted by Indian Experts deputed by C-DAC. Each course will take around 200 to 320 hours, after the course completion, participants will be given a certificate by C-DAC. Besides the 2 courses, 6 other courses including Software Testing, Advanced Web Technology, Android Programming, IT Project Management, Ethical Hacking and Information Security, and Linux System Administration are to be conducted in the program. All courses are expected to finish within 1 year.
